In working toward our mission of producing productive citizens, it is the aim of the School District of Three Lakes to have our students experience the satisfaction that comes from completing community service. Opportunities to serve the community let students learn more about themselves, apply academic skills to practical problems, and develop good citizenship habits. Students may have an opportunity to work with some of our community's skilled leaders and professionals, and also learn first hand about some of the issues, needs and problems of society. Community service may provide an opportunity to explore a career possibility; it may enhance employability by providing work experiences as well as references. Through community service, students may experience the gratification of helping others without receiving wages.
Three Lakes students are required to perform 40 hours of community service before graduation. Community service hours are volunteer hours for which the student is not compensated. An adult supervisor on location must sign and date the verification form for the volunteer activity. Verification slips are available in the 7-12 office and should be returned to the guidance office.
If you have specific questions or are unsure about a possible volunteer experience, check with the guidance office.
