2nd Grade Teacher Email Phone: 715-272-1105 About Me Hello, and welcome! I am so glad you want to know a little bit more about me. My name is Kara Miller, and I teach second grade at fabulous Sugar Camp Elementary. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and I attended Saint Mary’s College at Notre Dame where I majored in elementary education. While attending college, I was a manager of the Notre Dame football team, so I am a crazy sports nut! You might wonder how I made my way to the Northwoods. Well, my family has vacationed in the Three Lakes area since my grandmother was little, so I spent most of my summers up here. I started teaching in the Three Lakes District in 2000. I began as the math specialist and have taught almost every grade in the district. My Teaching Philosophy Every child is a unique person with different strengths and backgrounds. They are all their own puzzles, and it is my job to figure out what works best for each and every one of them in order for them to get the most out of their education. I believe it is my job not only to teach the curriculum, but also to help mold these students into good people. We go beyond the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic. I want them to believe in themselves and take ownership of their learning. We spend lots of time talking about having a growth mindset and not backing away from a challenge. I hope that students leaving my classroom are ready to go out and make a difference in the world!
