About Me
I am a Northwoods native, who attended Rhinelander High School where I was competitive in track, volleyball and figure skating. I went on to study Spanish and physical education at UW-LaCrosse, and completed my Master's of Education in Health Education from UW-Stevens Point in 2011.
I live in Rhinelander with my my three children, Madeline, Jake and Leo, who all attended Three Lakes Elementary School. My children keep me busy as they are all three-sport athletes in hockey, soccer, tennis, football and cross country, throughout the year.
In my free time, I enjoy running, of which I have completed four half-marathons and several 5-10ks. Also, throughout the year, I teach aerobics as a fitness Instructor at the YMCA of the Northwoods. I have a passion for traveling around the world with students and with my own kids. My international travels include Spain, Puerto Rico, Italy, France, Belize, Costa Rica, Mexico and the Bahamas. I hope this passion for travel, diversity and cultures will inspire my Three Lakes students to become productive members of our ever-changing world.
Teaching Philosophy
I am passionate about travel, culture and being bilingual. This passion lets me motivate and share enthusiasm for the Spanish language and customs with my students. I encourage students to learn a second language and to prepare themselves for our ever-changing society by advancing year after year with their language learning.
In the classroom, I share real-life stories and samples of Spanish food and customs to bring the culture into the classroom. I encourage students to grasp the importance of knowing and learning a second language, while explaining how Spanish might help them achieve certain opportunities by being bilingual in their future. Through these concepts, I guide students to develop awareness for other cultures, which in turn will help them become productive members of our world.
