Welcome to the Three Lakes IMC!
Our cozy school library is home to more than 10,000 books and audio books. Students are often found lounging on bean bags and chairs under the skylight that brings warm natural light to our space. The natural light is also a great way to grow plants in our library! Students have the option of using computer search stations during their time in the library. The library is staffed by Ms. Megan Rheaume-Brand, who provides guidance and recommendations as students choose their reading material. Ms. Brand also provides mini library lessons and helps students check out materials.
How do I access the online catalog?
Easy! Just click here to access the Follett Destiny Online Library Catalog. This is a valuable resource that your student uses during his/her time in the library. Ask them to show you around!
When can students check out material?
All students are encouraged to check out materials during their weekly scheduled visit to the library. Or, they can stop in during their free time when the doors are open and Ms. Brand is in the library.
How do you make sure children pick out appropriate materials?
Students are encouraged to check out books at their reading level. That said, students are never denied a book because it is above or below their reading level. We just love that they are reading and excited about books.
How many books may a student check out?
The number of books a student may check out is determined by grade level. Every student must check out at least one book or have at least one on their account at any time. Students in grades 4-6 may check out a Playaway (portable audiobook) at the discretion of the IMC teacher based on training and responsibility. Playaways range in price from $30-100, and the library has a limited supply. Therefore, students may only have one on their account at a time. Students in grades 4-6 may check out a Playaway and a companion book to count as one item.
Student checkout limits by grade level:
- 4K-K - one book
- 1st-2nd grade - two books
- 3rd grade - three books
- 4th grade - four books
- 5th-6th grade - five books
What happens if my child is missing a book?
Students will receive a late notice when their books are more than two weeks late. We'll attempt to call or email parents/guardians if books are four or more weeks late. Students with missing or damaged books will be billed at the end of the school year.
