Students use many resources to help pay for post-secondary schooling, including grants, loans, work, savings and scholarships. The FAFSA form is a way to apply for federal financial aid. Here's how to get started:
1. Go to www.studentaid.gov. You can also download the myStudentAid app on your phone.
2. Create student and parent FSA IDs. If your parents live together, include both sets of information. If not, include information about the parent you lived with the most during the previous 12 months. Still unsure? Find more information on www.studentaid.gov.
3. Complete the FREE application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
4. Watch your email for confirmation and information. FAFSA wil also send your information directly to every college you listed on your application. Once you're accepted to that school, you'll receive financial aid information.
