At-Risk Program
|
The district's at-risk program is based on the school mission statement: Teaching Students to be Productive Citizens. This charge is taken very seriously, so the district has developed a program that monitors the entire 7-12 student body in regard to their academic achievement.
Students who display any indication that their classroom work is falling below their personal ability level are required to develop a personal success plan with our at-risk coordinator. The at-risk coordinator then closely monitors that student's academic output until the achievement level is where it should be. After-school study, parent and student conferences, and guided study halls are just a few of the tools used to ensure a student's success.

Response to Intervention
RtI is a process of providing high-quality interventions (extra help) that are matched to students' needs. The program uses frequent progress monitoring of how students respond to interventions to assist in making important educational decisions.
At the most basic level, all RtI models share three common features or characteristics:
- Use of evidence-based interventions.
- Assessing the rate and level of student performance in interventions.
- Use of individual student responsiveness data to make educational decisions.
The key concept in any RtI approach is that the intensity of an intervention is matched to the intensity and severity of the academic or behavioral deficiency.
RtI in the Three Lakes School District works as a four-tier model that describes four levels of intervention. Tier 1 applies to the general school population and describes the type of instruction that is typically given in the classroom. Tier 2 applies to less than 20 percent of students and involves instruction that is more intense and frequent for those who are not performing at grade level. Tier 3 is for a very small number of students who require one-on-one instruction outside of the classroom. Tier 4 involves special education services for students who have been identified with a learning disability.
The Three Lakes RtI model addresses the academic and behavioral needs of students. It is currently being implemented in grades K-12. Our school district will continue to address the needs of individual students in all grades, and RtI will help us to do it most effectively and efficiently.
