HS Math Teacher Email About Me As a Three Lakes graduate, I am excited to be teaching in the exact classroom where I decided I wanted to be a math teacher. After graduating from Three Lakes High School, I attended UW-Stevens Point and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a teaching certification. I have been teaching high school math since graduating in 2012: first at Lakeland Union High School, then Ripon High School, and most recently online with Enlightium Academy. In 2020, I earned a master’s degree in mathematics from Emporia State University. My teaching experiences at these diverse schools and earning an advanced degree have allowed me to grow as an educator. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and giving back to the community I grew up in. My husband and I love living in the Northwoods. We enjoy gardening, harvesting apples and wild raspberries, tapping maple trees and making syrup, and watching the birds and other wildlife that come to our backyard. I also like to run, bike, cross-country ski and snowshoe. I also play trumpet in the Rhinelander Area Community Band. Teaching Philosophy I believe all students can improve their abilities in math through effort and practice. My role in the classroom is to encourage students to challenge themselves to understand math at a deeper level and work on their critical reasoning skills. Valuing process over results, I push my students to be able to communicate their problem-solving steps and explain the mathematical concepts used to find their answer.
