High School English Teacher Email
About Me
I am excited to join the wonderful teaching team of Three Lakes. I taught history and English for about 10 years at the School District of Crandon before coming to Three Lakes. I have also helped with math intervention and ACT math preparation. I started my education degree in Broadfield Social Studies at UW-La Crosse and transferred to complete it at UW-Superior. I also returned to add certifications in the content area of English.
I was inspired to become a teacher by my grandma, who earned her teaching credentials and masters in her 60s. Her approach to teaching was similar to her approach to being a grandma and mother, and when she passed, that was so clearly reflected when her former students shared how much she positively influenced them. My only hope in this job is that I can strive to do the same for my students.
I live in Argonne with my husband, our two kids, Evan and Addy, and our dog, Marla. We love the outdoors and can’t get enough of what the Northwoods has to offer. We hike, camp, hunt and fish among other things.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe students learn best when they feel seen and heard. Creating a safe and positive learning environment lets students successfully make mistakes and learn from them. I also believe that learning is a lifelong process. I try to constantly model this to my students, and also allow them to see that I, too, make mistakes. It is my goal to present multiple opportunities for students to express themselves and their learning while building skills they need to be successful in their futures outside of the classroom.
