About Me
I teach all 7-12 music classes in addition to the elementary band. The 2023-2024 school year is my 12th year teaching band and music. My prior experience includes teaching K-12 general music, band and choral music in Moore, Mont., and 5-12 band and general music in Crandon, Wis. I have a degree in music education from Northern Michigan University, with my primary instrument being flute.
I am originally from Paulding, Mich., and currently reside in Eagle River with my husband, Robert, son, Jackson, daughter, Lilly, two dogs, a cat and many chickens. In my free time, I enjoy reading, baking and crafting.
Teaching Philosopy
I believe music is a very powerful source that will touch my students throughout the rest of their lives, whether they choose to continue playing instruments, sing in a choir, or simply learn to enjoy and appreciate the music that surrounds all of us each and every day.
One of my favorite quotes about music is by Sinichi Suzuki, a Japanese violinist and teacher.
“Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.”
— Shinichi Suzuki
