About Me
Hi! My name is Brad Volkmann, and I teach upper level math, including Algebra 2, precalculus and calculus, along with computer programming and How to Make Almost Anything in the Fab Lab.
I graduated with a bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University with a major in mathematics and a minor in computer science. I have an associate's degree in engineering from Gogebic Community College, where I played basketball and met my much better half, Staci. I also earned a master's degree in educational technology from the American College of Education.
My wife and I have two children, Tobias and Malakai, and we spend most of our time watching soccer and living life to the fullest with the two boys. We love the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, hiking and camping!
Teaching Philosophy
I have the title of math teacher, but I have always felt that I don't teach math, I teach kids. I believe it is important to give students the tools to use logic and reason to make informed decisions about life. Mathematics is an excellent tool for teaching logic and reasoning!
