About Me
Hello! My name is Jeff Waltz. During my senior year at Kettle Moraine High School, my school counselor and I talked about career pursuits. I mentioned that I was interested in teaching, and she suggested that I spend a little time each day across the street in Mrs. Mayer's first grade at the elementary school. It didn't take long for this opportunity to become the highlight of my day. I knew I wanted to be a teacher!
I've taught in the elementary grade levels for 25 years, and this is my sixth year at Three Lakes Elementary. This is a special place! The every day mood in the school is positive, and I'm honored to be a part of this great community.
My family includes my wife, Sara, and our three children, Mollie, Nolan and Eliana. We love to go on outdoor adventures together, including hiking, waterfalls in the U.P., cross-country skiing and ice fishing. We've been Northwoods residents for 11 years after previously living in Waukesha County. Personally, I love to play basketball, strum the guitar, and fish "out-of-the-way places."
Teaching Philosophy
Some of my educational philosophies:
- The goal for all students is progress, not perfection.
- Learning can and should be fun!
- The classroom needs to be a learning environment that is free of distractions.
- Students grow when they are held accountable for their own choices.
- Students should feel valued and heard in the classroom.
- Students thrive when they have multiple ways in which to show their learning.
- Students deserve an education that fits their individual learning needs.
- Attitude is everything!
