About Me
I grew up in Sugar Camp and graduated from Three Lakes High School. Upon graduation, I attended UW-Stout and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I went on to get my 1-6 certification at UW-River Falls and eventually a master’s degree in Educational Technology from Marian University.
In my early teaching career I taught 3rd and 4th grade at a private Catholic school. I also taught preschool for several years before becoming a stay-at-home mom for my three daughters. I returned to teaching at Sugar Camp Elementary in 2006. Fun fact: I teach kindergarten in the same room where I attended kindergarten!
My Philosophy
The Sugar Camp kindergarten classroom is a wonderful, exciting place to be. Each day is a new adventure in learning and growing. The kindergarten experience at Sugar Camp Elementary will provide various social, physical, emotional and academic learning experiences. Students are encouraged to display creativity and individuality.
Helping the child in learning self-discipline and appropriate school behaviors is an important part of the kindergarten experience at Sugar Camp. The development of a positive self-concept and a positive attitude toward school is promoted through experiencing success in school.
The ultimate outcome for Sugar Camp kindergarten students is to acquire and maintain excitement about learning. It is my hope that the students in my classroom will look forward to continuing the learning process with a sense of wonder and anticipation.
