If you've been in any of our buildings recently, you might have noticed the addition of security cameras. As part of our district's goal of providing a safe and secure environment, these security cameras have been installed at Sugar Camp Elementary and the Three Lakes campus. This effort was completed under the health and safety grants that the district received this past year.
The surveillance equipment will be used under these guidelines:
- Cameras have been placed in locations where privacy is not considered a legal concern, including but not limited to: the commons areas, cafeteria, hallways, entryways, libraries, gymnasiums, parking lot and outdoor facilities.
- Security monitoring will not be used in restrooms or locker rooms.
- Equipment will be monitored as needed and in emergency situations in compliance with state and federal law.
- Only individuals authorized by the district administrator or principal may view recordings.
- The Three Lakes school board will be updating and revising policy to reflect these guidelines.
We're pleased to continue providing a safe environment for your students with the help of these new tools!
