I joined the Three Lakes School District as a special education teacher in Fall 2019. My family moved to Eagle River when I was in 2nd grade, so I consider myself a Northwoods native. I am grateful to live in such a beautiful place. As a family, we enjoy hiking, biking, being on the water, and cross-country skiing.
As I grew up, I always wanted to become a teacher. I went to UW-Eau Claire and majored in elementary and special education. After graduating from UW-Eau Claire, I spent the first four years of my career as a teacher for students with learning disabilities. When my husband and I moved to Superior, Wis., for his new job, I was hired as the Title 1 reading teacher in Solon Springs. I spent four wonderful years there teaching reading. During that time, I attended UW-Superior and obtained my masters of education in school counseling as well as a reading teacher license. My husband and I decided to pursue parenthood through adoption during this time. To our complete joy, we were able to adopt a baby girl in 2003 and almost exactly five years later, we were blessed with adopting a baby boy! Once again, we made the decision to move for new jobs as well as to be closer to family. I was hired by Northland Pines as a school counselor and served in that role for 16 years. I am now a NPSD school board member.
I believe the core of successful teaching is trusting relationships with students, parents and colleagues. Three Lakes School District excels in this area, and I am fortunate to have become a part of such a cohesive staff. I am looking forward to a new year working with students to support their academic, social and emotional growth.
