HS Science/Chemistry Teacher Email About Me I love science, exploring nature and sharing my excitement with students. I was born and raised in St. Joseph, Mich. The latter half of my childhood I spent as a missionary kid in Kenya. I had unique cross-cultural experiences and went to high school at Rift Valley Academy, a boarding school. I attended Wheaton College, where I received a bachelor's in chemistry and education. After college, I headed back to Michigan where I taught for four years at a small charter school surrounded by farms with a creek out back. There, I taught chemistry, biology, earth science and environmental science. Two years ago, my husband and I moved up to the Northwoods, and we love it. I am very excited to join the staff at Three Lakes High School where I will be teaching Chem I, Chem II, physics and physical science. My Teaching Philosophy I have a quote from Einstein on my wall, "Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think." In a science class, I want students to explore the world around them and exercise their minds by investigating. I believe that students will best learn something if they engage physically with what they are learning through demonstrations, labs and projects. I believe the experience of doing and studying science will provide skills that will carry into any career path a student might take.
